Allied forces across the globe rode the Harley WLA ‘Liberator’ to victory.

With war on the horizon back in the late 30’s, Harley-Davidson knew they would soon receive a call from the U.S. military. After all, it was clear that to fight in the rough terrain of Europe, the old VL simply wouldn’t cut it. And in 1940, the Army approved its first contract for an initial shipment of Harley WLA motorcycles (the WL Army).
