Twenty years ago, the FXR was not the most popular Harley platform in the world. No, that title went to the Softail. Everyone wanted the whole hardtail-look-with-suspension deal. It was a way to get what you wanted (rigid frame look) while avoiding what you didn’t (rigid frame ride quality). In recent years the roles of the two Harley models have reversed. Riders scour the internet for leads on old FXR bones for their next custom ride.
