The line between a tragedy and a near miss is often separated by a lone individual willing to risk themselves to protect others. Thankfully a crash last weekend didn’t turn into a tragedy, and it was all thanks to a few brave bikers. As reported by USA Today, it was a Friday afternoon when an inattentive semi driver plowed into traffic that was stopped for some construction on I-24. The resulting calamity quickly turned into an eight-car pile-up, with lots of leaking fuel. There was only a few moments before Southern Illinois would be graced with a massive fire.
