Functionally speaking, the only difference between the regular Forty-Eight and the Forty-Eight Special are the Tallboy handlebars. The Special’s handlebars feature a 7.25-inch rise in place of the standard model’s low, flat bars. But that little change makes a huge difference in ergonomics. Instead of leaning forward, you’re more upright and your feet are forward. You might not look as cool, but you’ll be a lot more comfortable on longer rides.
